Bee yard is coming along

Over the past few weeks, we've been making steady progress transforming what was once an overgrown, neglected pasture into the future home of Desert Farms Apiary.

When we first arrived, the bee yard was buried in brush, weeds, and years of deferred maintenance. The irrigation system wasn't working, and it was hard to imagine what the space could become.

One project at a time, that's starting to change.

The brush has been cleared, the irrigation system is back up and running, and the property is finally beginning to look like the apiary space we've envisioned. It's still a work in progress, but every improvement brings us one step closer to welcoming our first colonies.

Building a small farm isn't something that happens overnight. It's a series of long days, problem-solving, learning, and plenty of hard work—but seeing the transformation makes it all worthwhile.

We're excited to keep sharing the journey as Desert Farms Apiary continues to take shape here in West Richland, Washington.
